Today I was given the OK to replace on old G4 400mhz with a new Imac. A fantastic choice of computer at the moment. The Imac has it all, a real joy to work on. But it was interesting retiring the old Mac. I remember the machine from new, and now here it was years later, hundreds of thousands of hours of work later, being hung up. It is the last of the old ones that I now maintain. My whole client base are now all on modern machines. Such a massive step from OS7, where I came in. Not all of the systems were that great either! The ones I remember are the good ones, trouble free and stable. 7.2 – 8.6 – 9.2 – 10.4 – and now I would say 10.6. What a journey and such a short time.
Today I worked on cloud based servers, viop phone intranets and a range of high end machines, the G4 started with a dial up modem, when the internet worked at double slow speed, blogs weren’t heard of and the G4 was a flying machine. Though I am not so sure where Mac is heading theses days, I still take my hat off to them for building great machines, which have been a joy to work on for so many years.

Apple on Thursday seeded with developers the third beta of Mac OS X 10.6.5, its latest security and maintenance update for Snow Leopard, with just one known issue.People familiar with the latest build, reportedly known as 10H531, said thelone issue is associated with VMware. Having it installed can cause USB devices to not work when the Mac is awoken from sleep mode. Those same people said Apple has asked developers to focus on a few key areas for the latest beta, including iCal, Mail, USB Devices, QuickTime, Time Machine and 3D graphics. The delta update is said to be a 557MB download. The latest beta comes just a week after the last build was supplied to developers. And the previous, first build arrived only six days before that.Mac OS X 10.6.4 was released in mid-June, packing fixes for trackpads on Apples notebook computers, and also addressing issues with Adobes Creative Suite 3. It also included Safari 5, Apples latest Web browser.

You’re likely not going to know that until you’ve tried them all, so you may as well buy a mounting system that combines multiple options in one. Arkon Resources’ IPM515 and IPM514 Mobile Mounting Systems do just that, but not without some inconveniences.
